Syr secures Royal Unibrew Championship via play-off at Royal Oak

Sebastian Eidsæther Syr is the new Royal Unibrew Championship winner after defeating Eric McIntosh in a play-off at Royal Oak. Both players posted remarkable totals of -14 over three rounds, but it was the Losby Golfklubb representative who held his nerve when it mattered most to clinch the title.

The pair had separated themselves from the rest of the field heading into the final stretch. Alexander Settemsdal finished in solo third at -12, two shots back, while Icelandic duo Dagbjartur (Dabbi) Sigurbrandsson (-11) and Sigurdur Arnar Gardarsson (-10) rounded out the top five with strong performances of their own.

From a starting field of 127 players, 53 made it past the cut line which fell at -1, a reflection of the quality on show across the three days. The competitive cut underlined how tightly bunched the field was at Royal Oak, where low scoring was required just to survive the weekend.

For Syr, the victory is a significant milestone on the Cutter & Buck tour. Converting a play-off demands composure under pressure, and the Norwegian delivered exactly that against a determined McIntosh who will no doubt feel this one slipped away. Both players can take confidence from an excellent week, but it is Syr who walks away with the trophy and the bragging rights.
